Meet Shilea Cooper, CMHC: Guiding You Through the Journey of Healing

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist

I believe every person has a story worth understanding.

Sometimes life leaves us carrying burdens we never expected. It might look like anxiety that won’t quiet, relationships that feel disconnected, grief that lingers, or experiences that continue to affect us long after they’ve ended. Therapy offers a place to slow down, make sense of those experiences, and begin moving toward healing with greater clarity and compassion.

My goal is to create a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re ok or have everything figured out. Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, you are welcome here.

Healing doesn’t erase the chapters you’ve already lived. It gives you the freedom to write the chapters that come next with greater hope and renewed purpose.

A Space Designed for Healing

From the moment you walk through the door my hope is that you feel welcomed. I intentionally created this space to feel calm, comfortable, and inviting.

This is a place where you can take a deep breath, settle in, and focus on yourself. Every detail was chosen with the hope that you’ll feel safe, supported, and at ease.

Why I Became a Therapist

My journey to becoming a therapist has been shaped by both personal and professional experiences. I’ve watched people I love struggle with their mental health, and I’ve experienced seasons of anxiety myself. Those experiences showed me how overwhelming life can feel and how powerful it is to have someone who listens without judgment. I’ve always been drawn to people’s stories and I believe every person deserves a safe space to feel seen, heard, and understood.

Recently I’ve experienced my own healing journey which has also influenced the way I practice. After going through medical trauma I returned to Lifespan Integration and my therapist used it to help me put the past in the past. Experiencing that process firsthand deepened my understanding of how the brain and body heal from difficult experiences and strengthened my confidence in the modalities I use. While every person’s journey is unique I know meaningful healing is possible because I’ve experienced it myself.

Today, it is a privilege to walk alongside individuals and couples as they navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life’s transitions. My hope is that Willow Brook Counseling Center will be a place where your story is heard and your experiences are honored. I don’t believe therapy is about fixing people. I believe it’s about helping you reconnect with the resilience, wisdom, and strength that have been within you all along.
